Me, Myself, and I

Let's start from the beginning...

I was born in the "wild and wonderful" state of West Virginia and called it home for approximately fifteen years of my life. My family also lived in Delaware for seven years, from which I got the quirk of saying "soda" instead of "pop."

In May 2003, I graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor's degree in meteorology. (Click here for a courses list.) My interests in weather are across the spectrum from snowstorms to tornadoes and everything in between. I even spent six weeks in the Great Plains doing storm research (but left without seeing any "worthy" twisters). Between classes and homework, I enjoyed playing sports with my friends. A Sunday afternoon football practice led me to meet my future husband, Andrew. In addition to meeting Andy, I made a lot of great friends in the four years at Penn State through the dorms, the meteo department, and intramural sports.

A week after graduation, Andy and I got married in my hometown and then went on an Alaskan cruise for our honeymoon. We currently live in North Carolina with our two dogs, Hank and Scout. There are also occasional part-timers staying with us too.

I began working as a veterinary assistant in August 2004. This job is super. I really enjoy my co-workers and the patients. I also worked at Home Depot for six months of 2004 and will remember it as a worthwhile experience.

In the summer of 2007, I completed a certificate in computer programming through NC State. Currently I'm searching for a job in web design and development.

I continue to be involved with Girl Scouts on a limited basis as part of a committee that runs activities including backpacking and hiking. Andy and I also keep busy with intramural soccer in the fall. Other than that, we spend our time around the house with the dogs or traveling to our families.

My other interests include rollerblading, backpacking, cycling, video games (currently Halo 3), and my truck. Check out the Favorites page for a few of my other interests.
