Layouts

Version 9
Title: Trippy
Initiated: June 22, 2005
Retired: ---
Fonts: Text - Verdana, Logo - Arial (don't know what to say if you don't have Arial!)
Notes: Andy and I joke about that it seems like you're always on at least two roads at the same time in NC. Well, how about six? 3 souths, 2 wests, and 1 north. This road sign exists in Greensboro, NC (slightly changed roads now). So we took a picture of it, and now I'm finally using it for something. There is actually a font that exactly matches the road signs called Interstate, but it's not free, so Elise didn't get it.

Version 8
Title: Scouty
Initiated: March 6, 2005
Retired: June 22, 2005
Fonts: Text - Verdana, Logo - Due Date
Notes: What better inspiration than my dogs. I wanted to make a background of Scout's freckles, but I still don't have a grasp on what to do to satisfy different screen resolutions. So I ended up putting a sample of her freckles in the logo and based the color scheme on her browns and whites. Hank is jealous. Maybe your time will come, buddy.

Version 7
Title: Flakey
Initiated: December 6, 2004
Retired: March 6, 2005
Fonts: Text - Verdana, Logo - Christmas Lights
Notes: Snow is the best thing about winter! I created the background using the font Flakey. Ah, the return to a color scheme. I missed you so.

Version 6
Title: Blocked
Initiated: November 12, 2004
Retired: December 6, 2004
Fonts: Text - Verdana, Logo - Made with Lego Font Creator
Notes: Legos are awesome! I couldn't find an actual Lego font, but found a website (see above) that allows you to create Lego text. I tried to stay true to Lego colors. The lack of a color scheme bugs me a little, but I guess the typical-aged Lego user doesn't care about such things.

Version 5
Title: Stealth
Initiated: September 7, 2004
Retired: November 12, 2004
Fonts: Text - Verdana, Logo - SF Digital Readout
Notes: This layout was inspired by the computer game Ghost Recon. Gotta love night vision. I also like the whole black and lime green color combination anyway.

Version 4
Title: Golden
Initiated: July 4, 2004
Retired: September 7, 2004
Fonts: Text - Verdana, Logo - Bauhaus 93
Notes: The scheme is based on one of my favorite hats. It's basically my "thinking cap" - I used to wear it a lot while studying in college and now I wear it while I'm coding. I took a picture of it to get the logo onto my computer. I hoped that I had a similar font in my collection of ~500, and I did!

Version 3
Title: Squirrelly
Initiated: May 18, 2004
Retired: July 4, 2004
Fonts: Text - Verdana, Logo - JackOLantern
Notes: A return to natural colors. I love this shot of a Penn State squirrel. Andy took the picture.

Version 2
Title: New Spark
Initiated: December 19, 2003
Retired: May 18, 2004
Fonts: Text - Verdana, Logo - Hemi Head 426 (old school Dodge font)
Notes: Frames were removed and a considerable amount of CSS was added. The majority of the pages were converted from HTML to PHP files to ease coding changes.

Version 2.1: Banner logo was repositioned to look better on higher-resolution settings.

Version 1
Initiated: 2000 (?)
Retired: December 19, 2003
Fonts: Text - Verdana (previously Benguiat Frisky)
Notes: Two-frame format with a JavaScript menu in the left frame. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) coding was used for the links and headers. The color theme was based on woodland camouflage.

Below are samples of backgrounds previously used on this website:
